Tiki Time

A friend of mine had to remove a large Palm
tree from his back yard because of power lines.
I asked him to save some large sections of it so
that I could try my hand at carving a Tiki. Heres
a look at how it turned out . Wielding a chain
saw is not quite the same as wielding a paint brush.

Posted for the "Illustration Friday" topic of the week.
It wasn't till I read Earl Wilson's definition that I made
the connection with this piece which didn't have a title
till now.
"Poise: the ability to be ill at ease inconspicuously."

Burning Desire

This is the next piece that I will be painting. I had a time
trying to choose a title. This guy is part pirate, part fire
god, so I guess that makes him a "Firate". Then again, he's
part islander, part surfer, part boat ... I don't know where
this stuff comes from, but it just keeps coming! Might look
good with some indication of a jungle behind him. We'll see
what transpires. - Mahalo

Cast your fate to the wind completed

I have so much fun painting, especially when I'm in the
flow, like I was on this one. On those occasions I could keep
working on a piece forever, but at some point you have to
say it's complete.

Here's a cool little piece I just finished. I've been painting
on panels lately and must say that I've been enjoying that
substrate. Here's a shot of my desk as I get ready to post
this one to my online Etsy shop. Here's the original oil
painting flanked by the value study pencil drawing on the
right and a print of the original artwork on the left.
